United Launch Alliance is hiring! We are seeking a Strength Engineer RS1 to join our team at Decatur, AL.
Supports the disposition of Launch Vehicle (LV) flight hardware non-conformances with structural analysis for MRB disposition via finite element analysis and classical methods. Performs structural analysis of ground support equipment and tooling to support development of new designs as well as modifications to existing hardware. Supports evaluation of LV flight hardware for predicted mission loads and environments. Performs structural testing as required. Tools utilized may include NASTRAN, FEMAP, NX CAE, PATRAN and a variety of software applications.

ULA Job Description:
Researches, designs and develops instruments, automation controls, engines, machines, mechanisms, hydraulics, heat transfer, cryogenic and ordnance components and systems that are used in the transmission, measurement and use of energy. Application of mechanical engineering principles to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical systems.
External Additional Requirements
* Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* 0-2 years of related work experience
* Time management skills and strong self-initiative
* Ability to operate independently, and work as part of a team
* Ability to present technical concepts and solutions
* Ability to apply design concepts to real world solutions
* Ability to assess and interpret engineering drawings, specs, and industry/government standards
* Ability to create and modify Finite Element Models and perform classical hand analysis
* Travel may be required to other ULA locations
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
External Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in an aerospace or aviation field
* Experience with Aerospace engineering applications
* Hardware manufacturing or testing experience
* Knowledge of machine shop practices, capabilities, accuracies and limitations
* Proficient with Microsoft Office platform tools
* Demonstrated proficiency in team leadership
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
