United Launch Alliance is hiring! We are seeking an Industrial Engineer RS2 to join our team in Decatur, AL.

The Industrial Engineer RS2 position uses the application of Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools under general supervision to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations. The Industrial Engineer RS2 position uses development of models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provide summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers). Apply general industrial engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements. Research, design, develop, improve and implement processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization. Manage, define, negotiate, and control the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and perform risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation). Use engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products. Analyze and design value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).

External Additional Requirements

* Bachelor s degree in Industrial Engineering

* 2-6 years of experience

* Able to develop models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provide summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers)

* Able to apply general industrial engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements.

* Able to research, design, develop, improve and implement processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.

* Able to manage, define, negotiate, and control the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and perform risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation)

* Ability to use engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products

* Analyze and design value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g. make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout)

* Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

* This position may need to work overtime or other shifts if needed.

External Preferred Qualifications

* Interest in pursuing a long-term career in the launch industry

* Previous experience working with an Aerospace company and/or an Aerospace project

* Working knowledge of Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools under general supervision to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.

* Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Project)

* Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2013

* Green and/or Blackbelt Certification

* Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

Functional Job Description

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing and use interpersonal skills. The employee is regularly required to prioritize, multitask, analyze, interpret, coordinate, compile, evaluate, synthesize, compute, problem solve, concentrate, and think critically. The employee is occasionally required to copy, instruct, and negotiate.

Judgment and Decision-Making: Work is regularly assigned by self, supervisor, and departmental staff. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exercise prudent judgment, decision making, and analytical skills to determine manner and operational steps necessary to properly handle inquiries and perform daily tasks within professional standards. Decision making is guided by ULA policies and procedures.
