Job Description:
The Senior Category Manager is responsible for developing,
aligning, and implementing company-wide sourcing and procurement
strategies in goods, and logistics by effective planning and
negotiating with suppliers and vendors in order to acquire the most
cost-effective deals while reducing our procurement expenses. The
person acts as a main focal point for all procurement activities
and will lead from the front all strategic procurement endeavors,
vendor contract negotiations, identify cost reduction opportunities
and overall supplier performance management fulfilling the targets
of cost, quality, and delivery. This position will report directly
to the Director of Operations, Supply Chain and Fleet and provides
a fantastic, growth experience where one can learn and contribute
from all different activities that one needs to manage while
working with cross functional teams and internal
stakeholders.Essential FunctionsLead company-wide, 360-degree
procurement efforts, which includes development, coordination, and
continuous evaluation of procurement strategies in a cost-effective
and efficient manner.Negotiate contracts, prices for more
profitable agreements; develop, and maintain relationships with
current and potential vendors and suppliers.Leverage extensive
category, procurement, and supply chain knowledge to drive lower
TCO (total cost of ownership) while maintaining optimal inventory
levels and turns.Act as a main focal point for all procurement
related activities. Prepare reports, metrics, and dashboards for
senior management on the status of the organization's procurement
activities.Comprehensive knowledge and experience with direct and
indirect procurement strategies, long-term contracts, spot buying,
freight/ logistics procurementMonitor trends in the marketplace to
identify opportunities and threats to the organization's supply
chain.Ensure that the organization complies with all federal and
state laws and regulations related to procurement.Establish an
inventory management system to track goods as they are purchased
and delivered to the companyRequired QualificationsBachelor's
degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Operations
Management, Business Administration, or related field. Certified
Procurement Professional (CPP) certification and/or likewise
credentials are a definite plus.5 or more years of related
experience working in a wholesale/retail business, preferably
agricultural environment with experience in strategic procurement,
supply chain, or similar position. Prefer proven work experience as
a Senior Category Manager, Head of Procurement, Supply Chain
Manager/ Lead or in similar positions.Proven success of
strategically working with suppliers with demonstrable aptitude in
effective negotiating.Experience working with large group of
employees spread across multiple regional sites across a broad
geographical area.Comprehensive knowledge of analytical and
problem-solving skills, proactive and creative with ability to seek
out innovative solutions to business problems.Valid driver's
license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance
with Company policy.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesNegotiations
experience, with the ability to influence others and sell concepts
and ideasStrategic thinking and analytical skills to manage
contract requirements and develop/manage reporting metrics, and
dashboards.Strong sense of accountability and ownership with a high
level of autonomy to develop spend and cost reduction projects and
execute those together with stakeholders and other procurement and
supply chain membersExcellent communication and interpersonal
skills, ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the
organization and with external contactsWillingness to work with
personal cost targets and having the ability to develop and change
strategy and apply various tools and actions to reach targetsStrong
presentation skills and ability to analyze data and technical
requirements from different anglesIn-depth understanding of risk
management within the supply chain of the companyStrong working
knowledge of finance and accounting, including budgeting, cost
management and operational risk management.Strong proficiency and
practical experience using PowerBI, SAP, Oracle, or any other ERP
system. Proficient with MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Access.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the
employee regularly works in an office setting; however, this
position will also require frequent travel and visits to
agricultural, warehouse, and industrial environments.Physical
DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of
those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job.Regular use of the telephone and
e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods
and the use of hands to finger is common. No heavy lifting is
expected. While performing the duties of this job, good manual
dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer
terminals, calculator, and copiers is needed. While performing the
duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and
talk or hear. Vision requirements relate to ability reading/using
computer. When visiting off-site locations, proper use of PPE is
