FSLA: Full Time
Salary: $17.18
Summary:
The City of Decatur is looking for an energetic creative multi-tasker who is passionate about impacting the lives of children and able to create engaging lesson plans for the after school and summer camp programming. The Site Director serves a significant role by offering children and youth opportunities to learn new skills, improve grades, develop relationships with others, and prepare for a successful career. These skills can also be critical in helping youth develop in positive ways and to avoid behavior problems and conflict. The Site Director engages in and supports the mission of the Community and Economic Development Department and the Children and Youth Services Division by carrying out department and division goals and objectives, creative problem solving, decision making, responsible stewardship of City resources, and positive reinforcement and consistent application of department rules, regulations, and standard operating guidelines.
Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, maintains and submits administrative records and reports for both personnel and participants including, but not limited to, attendance records, evaluation forms, discipline records, incident/accident reports and worker's comp reports.
  • Represents the division and the site at school and community functions, staff meetings, parent conferences, phone calls, and community time with professionalism.
  • Responds to all inquiries and complaints or makes referral to appropriate person.
  • Provides teaching, mentoring, and motivation to youth development staff through modeling appropriate behavior and communicating knowledge, skills, and information.
    • Effectively manages self through the independent initiation and accomplishment of tasks.
    • Administers program surveys to participants.
    • Proactively applies his/her individual strengths to support team and individual efforts toward accomplishing organization goals and work-related tasks.
    • Oversees and maintains all program equipment and supplies to ensure the safe and effective administration of all program activities.
    • Other duties as assigned.
      Required Education and Experience:
      • BA in Early Childhood Education, Education or related field and two years of qualifying child care experience or Child Development Associate (CDA) or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Competencies and Skills:
        • Must be at least 21 years of age.
        • Must obtain a valid State of Georgia driver's license (Non-commercial Class A or B) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
        • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, work reference check, pre-employment post-offer physical and drug screen.
        • Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
        • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (10-50 lbs.) sit, bend, squat, and twist on a daily basis; must be able to physically operate city vehicle.
        • Ability to sit for long periods of time using office equipment and computers.
        • Ability to walk and stand in an outdoor (playground and park) setting including entering the swimming pool in extreme heat and cold, for up to 8 hours daily.
        • Must have ability to deal with constant interruptions, noise, and meet with others on a regular basis.
          Equipment:
          Have a personal vehicle to drive for daily business on a mileage reimbursement basis.
