Most people associate home care service to a day full of driving all over a county or two to perform back-to-back short visits to seniors for general screenings, checkups or things like wound care. Those services are a valuable part of home care but not what our agency specializes in. Private duty home care is our specialty. Private duty care is working with one client for a full shift each day. Most caregivers work with 1-3 different clients near their hometown throughout the month's assignments. We have both part time and full time positions available ongoing. Our minimum schedule with a caregiver is 1 shift every other week - this allows flexibility to work around another job but still keeps you current on the client's care, medications & routines. Our nursing assignments often include care for pediatric clients, our clients range in age from infants to adults & seniors. Many of our clients needing nursing services have medical needs that require 24/7 monitoring and care - our nursing care supplements care provided by parents and family members. Our nurses care for clients while their loved ones are either out of the home at work or in another part of the home sleeping to be ready to go to work or to take over the client's care the next morning. The shifts vary according to the client's needs and are scheduled to meet the client/family needs: typical shifts last anywhere from 8 to 12 hours per shift start & end shift times vary case by case but are steady in each home - for example, client Molly may need nursing 8a-4p daily but client Alex needs care 10a-6p ongoing - the shifts for each client flex to meet the family's personal needs some clients need care 7 days a week while others concentrate their shifts to weekdays only shift needs could include day, evening or night shifts Many home care clients will need ongoing care long term - some for just a few years, others ongoing throughout their lives. Home care can be a long-term career that you'll absolutely love. You will get to see what a difference your ongoing care can make to a client and their entire family. Our nursing teams become a special type of extended family to the clients and their family. We've had some nurses grow their nursing careers next to their pediatric clients and continue to care for them for 10+ years and counting. Work in a more relaxed environment without the endless and exhausting stress and drama that can often be present in facility positions. What type of care is needed? Since we care for clients while their family members are out of the home or asleep, the care we provide is total care from A-Z for anything the client needs which could include: G-tube feedings & medications Nebulizer treatments Bathing, dressing & personal care Pulse ox monitoring Trach suctioning Vent status monitoring No experience with trachs or vents - NO PROBLEM! First and foremost, our clients are stable enough to be safely cared for at home by a single caregiver at their side. The nursing intervention we provide in the home to our clients helps to identify and control minor concerns before they have the chance to become bigger issues. The nursing skills you'll learn and master from working with our home care clients will be valuable throughout your entire nursing career. Many of our clients have clinical needs, such as trachs or vents, that even seasoned hospital nurses haven't had much experience working with before. This is where Anchor's experience comes in - our Nursing Supervisors, current nursing staff and families work together to make sure that new team members get the hands-on training needed prior to working independent shifts. We work with each nurse individually to make they feel comfortable in the care. We do not ever want a nurse to feel he or she is in a position to care for a client when they are not confident in the skills and care required. Our Admin team members have all been with Anchor for several years, we love our jobs, we want you to love yours too. New Grads Welcome! Once you pass your nursing boards exam and are waiting on your license to be activated, we will work with you to join our team and get you acquainted with home care by shadowing other great home care nurses on our team in your area whenever possible so you're ready to start work as soon as your license is active.
