Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A skilled RN with experience in step-down nursing is needed to support patient care in skilled nursing units. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide essential nursing services while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. Location: Madison, WI Schedule/Hours: 0.9 FTE day shift: 06:30 AM 07:00 PM Rotation between weekday and weekend shifts Responsibilities: Use the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for patients on skilled nursing units Administer prescribed medications and treatments in line with established nursing techniques, policies, and state regulations Document patient care and progress accurately, adhering to care standards Develop and implement individualized patient care plans under physician guidance and hospital policies, including patient and family education Support department or unit performance improvement initiatives, including participation in shared governance efforts Provide clinical expertise to other units as needed to support patients overall care plans Apply critical thinking to assess patient safety and experience, escalating issues appropriately through the chain of command Float to other inpatient units when census demands increase Qualifications: Current Wisconsin RN license Valid CPR certification Experience working in step-down or skilled nursing environments preferred Strong clinical judgment and communication skills Madison, Wisconsin, is a vibrant city known for its excellent quality of life, outdoor recreational opportunities, and a rich cultural scene.
