Description/n American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a
Med/Surg Observation Step Down position in Birmingham, AL,
requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent experience and
cardiology/med-surg background. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Located
on the 2 West floor of a 595-bed acute care hospital in Birmingham,
AL - Observation Step Down unit with 30 beds and a 1:6 patient
ratio - Patient population includes pre- and post-heart
catheterization, general cardiology (chest pain, hypertension), and
general med/surg cases - Standard acute care equipment used; EMR is
Cerner - Day shift: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM (36 hours/week) - Schedule
includes every other weekend - No on-call requirements - Travelers
are first to float - Candidate's SSN and DOB are required for
consideration - Care for a mix of observation and step-down
patients including cardiology and general med/surg cases - Navy
scrubs required - The ideal candidate is flexible, open to
feedback, friendly, and dependable - The facility is a Joint
Commission-accredited hospital recognized for cardiovascular
services, stroke care, rehabilitation, bariatrics, and surgical
care - The hospital holds Primary Stroke Center certification and
Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke from the
American Heart Association /n /n Requirements/n - Active AL RN
license or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time
of consideration - Current BLS certification required (AHA
accepted; American Red Cross is not accepted) - NIH Stroke Scale
(NIHSS) certification required (AHA only) - Minimum 2 years of
recent med/surg or cardiology RN experience required - Cerner EMR
experience preferred - Cardiology experience preferred; acute care
