This contract position supports a high-acuity Main OR in an advanced medical center, delivering patient-centered care with a 1:1 patient ratio. The role is based in the Birmingham area, offering an engaging opportunity to utilize and expand your skills in complex surgical nursing. Location Situated in a well-equipped, 24-bed surgical unit with cutting-edge operating room technology, including EMR documentation via Cerner. The facility is part of a leading healthcare campus in Birmingham, Alabama, known for its comprehensive neurological and spine surgery services. Responsibilities Deliver safe, effective nursing care during neuro/spine surgeries with an emphasis on patient monitoring and support. Collaborate closely with the surgical team to maintain the highest standards of perioperative practice. Participate in call rotation as scheduled, providing coverage on weekends. Maintain compliance with safety protocols, infection control, and documentation standards within the OR. Ensure adherence to dress code and professional presentation standards in the operating room. Qualifications and Desired Experience Current RN license with at least 2 years experience in neuro/spine OR nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Preferred skills include vascular, Da Vinci robotic surgery, orthopedic, and maxillofacial procedures. Experience with Cerner EMR strongly preferred. Ability to work day shifts (6:00 AM 4:30 PM) with 36 guaranteed hours weekly. This contract role provides the chance to work in a dynamic surgical team environment.
