Job Description:

*INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER *Actalent is seeking an experienced and skilled Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Engineer in Decatur, Al. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members to provide quality project I&E engineering for our industrial clients.*Employment Qualifications: ** Valid driver's license* Pass a mandatory drug test* Pass a mandatory background check* Provide proof of authorization to work in the United States* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution* Speak and read English* Ability to travel to and from various sites using standard forms of transportation* Effective analytical and reasoning skills* Excellent planning and organization skills*Responsibilities** Work with engineers and designers of various disciplines to ensure safe, timely, efficient designs that comply with company and client policies and procedures as well as applicable codes and standards.* Provide designs for new and modification type I&E projects for clients in chemical processing and industrial facilities.* Serve as project manager or perform as lead discipline engineer on projects as appropriate.* Provide project leadership to ensure communication and execution of work within scope, schedule and budget by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.* Recognize and communicate scope and design changes to client in a timely manner.* Estimate material, labor and engineering costs associated with I&E projects.* Prepare specifications and obtain quotations for purchase of materials and equipment.* Provide P&ID design including instrumentation and related mechanical design.* Direct designers in the development of I&E installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, to meet customer specifications and applicable codes.* Perform periodic design reviews; ensure designs follow specifications, codes, regulations, and contract requirements. Ensure technical and quality standards are maintained.* Produce effective and accurate written scopes of work, technical documents, and reports.* Produce detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project. Calculations produced shall be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required.* Prepare contractor bid packages.* Travel to various sites to gather field data and provide construction support.* Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.* Perform startup, debug, and commissioning support* Build and maintain client relationships while promoting and integrating company-wide initiatives and values.* Develop business by interfacing with existing and potential clients.*Types of Projects Include: ** Process instrumentation sizing and specification* Control valve sizing/specifying* Process analyzer and sample system* Control panel layout and design* Industrial low and medium voltage power distribution system design* Grounding and lightning protections systems* Electrical Power Load Studies* Cable Voltage Drop, Ampacity and Short Circuit Calculations* Low voltage motor control systems* Electric heat tracing systems* VFD system installation and support* Industrial facility lighting* Communication systems* Computer networking* Backup power systems* Power system protection coordination modeling* Arc flash hazards analysis* PLC control system modifications, retrofits and migrations*Job Qualifications: ** EIT registration or commit to be registered within 1 year* A minimum of 2+ years' experience in chemical, refining and/or heavy industrial facilities.* Proficient with Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel* Experience with engineering, designing and project management of I&E projects* Knowledge of the application of the National Electrical Code* High level of personal integrity, and dedication to conducting business ethically* Ability to independently work under pressure and manage competing priorities* Verbally express technical issues in a clear and concise manner* Outstanding interpersonal skills with peers, colleagues, and clients*Preferences: ** 5+ years experience in I&E Project Engineering in chemical process and industrial facilities* Experience following construction projects.* Ability to read and interpret PFD's and P&ID's* Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with electrical and instrumentation design* Previous consulting experience*Physical Requirements: ** Perform indoor and outdoor site visits or inspections that requires bending, stooping and climbing* Ability to work in heavy industrial locations while wearing proper personnel protective equipment (PPE)* Operate computer workstation using Microsoft Office applications and various engineering software*Job Benefits Package: ** Competitive Salary based on experience* 401k with matching* Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Accidental Death/Dismemberment Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Dental Insurance* Generous time off policyJob Type: Full-timePay: $73,881.90 - $126,557.33 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shiftAbility to commute/relocate:* Decatur, AL 35601: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Experience:* I&E Project Engineering: 3 years (Required)Work Location: One location
