SUMMARY: Under the general guidance of the Director of Support
Services, the Courier is responsible for providing pick-up and
delivery service of various materials, including chemotherapy
medications, laboratory specimens, and medical office records,
correspondence and supplies, between CCSI facilities and other
entities in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Verbal and written English
communication skills. Eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
Organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow routine
verbal and written instructions. Ability to understand and follow
safety procedures. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control
standards. Ability to operate and maintain motor vehicle. Ability
to function in a sometimes demanding and fast-paced work
environment. Understands and practices confidentiality. A positive
attitude towards health care team members and diverse patient
populations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB: Standing, walking, sitting, riding,
climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, stooping,
squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, kneeling, and
wrist and digital dexterity. Speaking, hearing, and visual acuity
to receive and interpret instructions; communicate with other
health care professionals; and operate motor vehicle. Exerting
force (frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally more) to lift,
carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including medications,
laboratory specimens, linens, supplies, billing forms, packages and
documents, etc.
MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work and drive under stress and
adapt to changing conditions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Job duties involve travel in motor vehicle and
moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme
temperatures, weather conditions, etc. Normal medical office
environment. Job duties involve potential for exposure to blood and
body fluids due to transport of laboratory specimens and potential
for exposure to chemotherapy and other hazardous substances, due to
transport of medications. Special protective equipment must be used
in case of hazardous substance spill cleanup.

Illinois driver's license and current auto insurance.
